Melamine Faced Products

Melamine faced products come in two major variations. Melamine faced chipboard and melamine faced MDF.

Melamine Faced Chipboard (MFC)

Melamine faced chipboard, also known as MFC, is a versatile product that can be used for many applications in a wide range of locations. It is made up of a chipboard core, faced with a decorative paper that has been impregnated with melamine resin.

Probably the most common use of MFC is the construction of kitchen and bedroom carcasses however it can also be used pretty much anywhere within residential or commercial interiors.

Melamine Faced MDF (Medium Density Fibreboard)

Melamine faced MDF (MF MDF) is made up in the exact same way as MFC except for the core. The main advantages of MF MDF over MFC is that you can polish and chamfer the edges without the need for extra edging tape. This product is very popular in shop fitting and door manufacture industries.

The main advantage of melamine faced products is that they don’t require any finishing other than the seen edges. Once you have machined the material and have it in situ, it will not require any further treatment.
